Pricing

Pricing for Commissions
Pricing for commissioned work is based largely upon the complexity of the design chosen, and not merely upon the size of the work. Although each commission can have lots of variables, the base price of most original designs falls within a range of $100 to $500 per sq. ft. A large panel with a very simple design may cost much less than a smaller, more complex design due to the additional time required to cut and prepare the glass in the smaller piece. Other influencing factors may include the choice of a certain color or texture of glass, hand-blown glass, as well as the inclusion of beveled glass, "jewels", fused or hand painted glass. Please note that these prices are only estimates.

Each window is unique. Only after designs are complete, pre-approved and glass has been chosen, can a final cost be determined on a project. At that time, a non-refundable "cutting deposit" of 50% of the total will be required to begin fabrication. This fee is credited toward the final amount due. The balance is due at completion/delivery.

Of course, if you want something special and have a set budget, I will be glad to work with you to design something within that scope. There are many alternative ways to get a unique heirloom for a surprisingly low cost.

  • To obtain a "ball-park" estimate, start by measuring the size of the opening to the nearest one-half inch. We will obtain more accurate measurements later in the commissioning process.
  • Then, to determine square footage, multiply (in inches) the "length" x "width" and then divide the total by "144".

Pricing for Repairs and Restoration
Because repairs can be a daunting and unpredictable task, all repairs and restorations are done at the risk of the client and are billed on a time plus materials basis. The hourly rate for lead "came" panel repairs and restorations is $35 per hour. The hourly rate for copper foil panel repairs and restorations is $45 per hour. Rates for extremely difficult or large repairs cannot be quoted until after the initial assessment. A minimum charge of 2 hours will be billed on all work that is accepted for repair....no exceptions. Please remember that the prices quoted above are estimates only.

All work must be assessed at my studio (or in the case of installed pieces) at the site. The possibility exists that I may not accept the work, however, a travel time charge may still apply.

A deposit of 50% of the estimated price of the work will be due when items are dropped off to me. The remainder is due when you pick up the work.

Consultation
If you live in or near (within a 35 mile radius of) Jacksonville, Florida, I would be glad to meet with you personally to discuss your commission. Otherwise, we can work via the internet and telephone.

To expedite the discussion of your particular project, please have the following information available:

  • How many panels or objects are needed?
  • What are their shape(s) and approximate size(s)?
  • Where will the artwork hang, stand or be installed?  Is privacy needed?
  • How much daylight do you want to come through the artwork?
  • How much color (or lack of color) do you want?
  • Is there a particular color range or decor you need to match?
  • Do you like traditional, contemporary, Victorian, flowers, animals, scenery, geometric, etc?
Only after designs are complete, approved and glass has been chosen, can a final cost be determined on a project. At that time, a non-refundable "cutting deposit" of 50% of the total will be required to begin fabrication. This fee is credited toward the final amount due. The balance is due at completion/delivery. All designs stay in-house and remain the property of Katherine Bell/Bell Graphics and may not be reproduced in any form without my express written permission.

Please email or call today to schedule a consultation.

How Long Does It Take?
Depending upon how many orders I have on the waiting list, how quickly we work through the design process and the complexity of your project, it can take from two to twelve weeks, from beginning to end. If you have a special event you are planning for, I will make every effort to help you meet your goal.
The Holidays are always a very busy time... so get your orders in early!
